ESPN International, which makes sports programming available in 180 countries and territories, has awarded its international branding account to Bates Worldwide. New York-based Bates is charged with building a “consistent branding strategy” for the company’s broadcast, retail, restaurant, online and print operations in Latin America, Europe, Asia, the Middle East and Canada. ESPN’s international branding previously had been handled on an internal basis. The new contract does not affect ESPN’s domestic branding relationships with Portland, Ore.-based Wieden & Kennedy and Santa Monica-based Ground Zero.
