The U.S. Olympic Equestrian Team has chosen San Juan Capistrano as a site to host part of the Olympic Equestrian Trials in August 2000.

The Oaks/Blenheim Rancho Viejo Ridding Park at the end of Ortega Highway at La Pata was chosen to hold three rounds of equestrian events from Aug. 2 to 4, according to Marilyn Adams, assistant director of show jumping activities for the U.S. Equestrian Team.

Twelve finalists will compete in California for the right to represent the United States in the 2000 Olympic Games in Sydney next October. The Olympic Equestrian Team will consist of four members and one alternate.
