Kindred Spirits Share Motorcycle Fascination

I read with enthusiasm Robin Rauzi’s article about riding in and around L.A. I ride a BMW K 100RS and find it hard to find people who share the same passion for riding as me (“Why I Ride: Following Her Bliss Down the Angeles Crest Highway,” Sept. 23).

All my friends are non-riders, so most of them don’t “get it.” I’ve been hooked since I was 15 and can’t imagine life without riding.

I hope you print more fascinating riding stories in the future. Reading about it is the next best thing to being out there and riding down that canyon road.

I enjoy David Colker’s articles, and I’m glad The Times has finally given some space to someone who actually knows about motorcycles (“California, Here They Run . . . ,” Sept. 23).

Most of the motorcycling articles I’ve read in The Times contained the obligatory tales of greasy outlaws, speed freaks or mangled bodies on freeways (sometimes all three). They’re always written by non-motorcyclists who clearly don’t know much of anything about the subject. Keep up the positive work.

Many, many thanks for the nifty motorcycle coverage for us residents of Scooterville.

It took me until I was 48 years old to work up the nerve to defy my mom’s prohibition against bikes. Now I zoom around the state on my used Honda CB250, pretending it’s a CBR600F4 (but with much lower insurance rates).
