Citizenship Classes
In regard to its citizenship program (“Immigrants Protest Reduction of Classes,” Oct. 20), Los Angeles City College is taking responsibility for applying for the grant in the next funding cycle. Previously, this activity was managed at the district office. Currently, despite working with reduced funds, the college has scheduled classes where there is the greatest demand to serve the greatest number of students.
In addition, to meet current demands, the Citizenship Center has encouraged its students to take classes in the college’s regular program through the English/ESL, speech communication and law/AJ departments or at the Hollywood Adult School, which has kindly offered to enroll our students. With a successful outcome from our grant application, we look forward next year to an even larger program than we have previously offered.
