Los Alamitos High School Principal Rebecca Shore turned in her letter of resignation at the Los Alamitos Unified School District board meeting Monday evening. Shore, her husband and two small children will be moving to North Carolina, where her husband has accepted a job offer in Winston-Salem.

Shore has been at the school for one year and will work through the middle of December. She says she is heartbroken over the move because she enjoyed working there. “It’s a fantastic school,” she said, but her husband’s offer was too good to be refused.

She was previously an administrator in the Huntington Beach Union High School District for eight years.

Trustees are considering several options, including hiring an interim principal for the rest of the school year and conducting a search for a new principal over the summer, or making a selection before the end of the year.
