After scoring five touchdowns, D.J. Blackledge was quick to give credit to his teammates after he led Buena High to a 42-0 victory over Dos Pueblos in a Channel League game Thursday night at Ventura High.

“Our line does a great job of opening up holes for us and I give them the credit,” Blackledge said.

Blackledge rushed for 121 yards and four touchdowns in only 13 carries. He also scored on a 35-yard pass play in the second quarter.

His rushing touchdowns covered four, two, 23 and 33 yards.

Blackledge has rushed for 1,070 yards and 19 touchdowns.

Unfortunately for Dos Pueblos (3-5, 1-2), Blackledge wasn’t the only Buena player who made its life miserable.

The Bulldogs (7-1, 2-0), ranked eighth in the region, were also sparked by running back Freddy Keiaho. Keiaho rushed for 117 yards and a touchdown in 13 carries.

Kyle Loughman completed six of 14 passes for 85 yards and a touchdown for Buena, which rolled up 356 yards.

Perhaps even more impressive was the Bulldog defense, which held the Chargers to 94 yards.

Justin Salzman of Dos Pueblos, who rushed for 162 yards and three touchdowns against Ventura last week, had 34 yards in 15 carries.
