The Orange County Chapter of the American Red Cross held a training session Tuesday at City Hall to prepare city employees and volunteers to provide and operate emergency shelters.

The class focused on preparations cities must have in place to get a shelter operating quickly.

The Red Cross sets up agreements with a variety of facilities in each city where shelters can be established. School gymnasiums, churches and other large, sound structures are the ideal locations for these shelters.
