FOCUS: ORANGE COUNTY COMMUNITY NEWS : YORBA LINDA

Signs demanding the recall of Mayor John Gullixson and Councilwoman Barbara Kiley have been found near shrubbery along Yorba Linda Boulevard, the latest event to hit an already troubled City Hall.

The signs come in the wake of an investigation focusing on City Manager Arthur Simonian, who was placed on paid administrative leave Aug. 16 for allegedly awarding himself and his top brass secret cash bonuses.

The group claiming responsibility is Yorba Lindans Against Bad Government.

Gullixson said the mysterious new organization is just a pseudonym for the Organization of Unified Concerned Homeowners, OUCH, a City Council-watchdog group that has been critical of the mayor since Simonian was placed on leave.

“This is just a continuation of what we’ve seen before on other issues. They’re trying to use the Simonian event to stir up the public,” Gullixson said.

But Craig Brueckner, the president of OUCH, said he did not know who put up the signs and vehemently denies that his organization is responsible.
