A handful of wildlife lovers have urged state officials to buy 687 acres in Coal Canyon to add to Chino Hills State Park.

Claire Schlotterbeck, a Brea resident and president of Hills for Everyone, told officials from the state Department of Parks and Recreation at a Tuesday night meeting in City Hall that the additional acreage in Yorba Linda’s city limits is crucial to long-term conservation efforts.

The comments made at the public hearing will be presented to the state Assembly and Senate in November when they vote on the proposed purchase, officials said.
