O.C. BUSINESS PLUS : ORANGE COUNTY NEWSMAKERS : Grambo Moves Up at Ingram Micro Inc.

Robert D. Grambo has been named president of Santa Ana-based Ingram Micro Inc.’s U.S. unit, the parent company’s largest regional operation.

Grambo joined Ingram Micro in 1987 and held key executive positions in purchasing, product marketing and sales for the U.S. region, which grew in revenue from $4.1 billion to $11.5 billion from 1994 to 1997. After that, he served first as chief operating officer, then as president of Ingram Micro Europe.

The company also announced that Philip D. Ellett, executive vice president of Ingram Micro and president of its Ingram Micro Americas unit, has resigned to pursue other opportunities.

Ingram Micro, the world’s largest distributor of technology products and services, said Grambo and four other regional presidents will report directly to the office of the chairman.

* Peter Chernin, president and chief operating officer of News Corp., the giant media conglomerate owned by Rupert Murdoch, joins the board of Tickets.com Inc. The Costa Mesa company, which provides tickets online for sports and entertainment events, said it expanded its board to nine members.

Chernin also is chairman and chief executive officer of the Fox Group, which includes the North American operations of News Corp.

Tickets.com, which filed for a $75-million initial public offering in June, provides entertainment tickets, event information and related products and services. (Dow Jones)

* Michael McCone has joined the Trammell Crow Co. in Irvine as director of design and construction. Previously, McCone was an architect with the San Francisco office of Skidmore, Owings & Merrill. Also, Jaime Rook was appointed director of property management. Rook has worked as a commercial property manager for more than 15 years, most recently with Kaiser Permanente.
