FOCUS: ORANGE COUNTY COMMUNITY NEWS : MISSION VIEJO
The astronomy department at Saddleback College in Mission Viejo recently installed piers on top of the Science and Math Building to facilitate the set-up of observation telescopes.
The piers, which were constructed next to the school’s solar observatory, are polar-aligned mounts that will allow the students to track planets as they move across the sky over the course of the night using motorized telescopes. The telescopes will be used mainly by the school’s observational astronomy class.
