The City Council will vote on whether to repair slumping slopes at its meeting tonight.

The slopes, which are along Oso Parkway, east of Nottingham Court, and along Alicia Parkway, east of Aliso Hills Drive, are part of the city’s open space area. They are made of loose, crumbly soil, typical of the local geology known as the Capistrano formation. Rain, wind and time can cause the slopes to slip, according to a report.

If the City Council approves the slope repairs, it will solicit bids from contractors for the project, said Ken Rosenfield, director of public works.

The council will meet at 7 p.m. tonight at City Hall, 25201 Paseo de Alicia, Suite 150.
