David Wirtschafter, considered one of Hollywood’s most successful literary agents, has left International Creative Management to become executive vice president and worldwide head of motion pictures at William Morris Agency. The 41-year-old agent made the move to join his former boss Jim Wiatt, who last month resigned as president of ICM to become president and co-chief executive of Morris. Wirtschafter’s writer and director clients include Spike Lee, Allen and Albert Hughes, Carl Franklin, Greg Hoblit, Marc Norman, Anna Hamilton Phelan, Bryan Singer and Larry and Andy Wachowski. John Burnham and Mike Simpson will serve as co-heads of the worldwide motion picture department. Wirtschafter, from San Pedro, was at ICM for 12 years. He began his career in the mail room at Creative Artists Agency in 1983 while attending USC Law School. He was hired to work in ICM’s television department in the mid-1980s and, after about six years, moved to the movie side.
