Good thing Los Angeles designer Richard Tyler had his clothes on high-profile TV stars--Christina Applegate, Kim Delaney, Jimmy Smits, Kelsey Grammer and his wife, and Michael J. Fox and his son--at Sunday’s Emmy Awards because his Thursday fashion show in New York had to be postponed until Saturday because heavy rains from Hurriane Floyd virtually shut down New York.

Soggy fashion writers, except those from New York of course, weregrumbling that they were going home first thing Saturday as previously planned. Tyler’s show is set for that afternoon. Another L.A. fashion company, Roxy Quicksilver, which is showing for the first time in New York, postponed its Thursday show to Saturday too.

Delayed: Halston’s Kevan Hall said he is not staging a fashion show this week because of a deadline crunch caused by the New York shows being staged in September. But this is the second time New York shows are happening before those in Milan and Europe.

Hall, however, is only showing clothes at his New York showroom by appointment.

Sitting in the front row at the Magic Johnson Foundation fashion show Sunday, he said, “I’m not loving this timing. Because we take so much time and pride in our craft, we’re pushing our show to October. And because of the beading, we’d rather put it all together without rushing.” But his clothes were also missing the Emmys.

Cyber Conde Nast: Having launched vogue.com, Conde Nast disclosed sketchy plans to move into e-commerce by November. Details were few at the Vogue breakfast briefing Wednesday at the new Conde Nast headquarters. But the strategy is very clear: to fulfill the needs of an increasing number of women who search the Internet to buy clothes.

Sports Fashionistas: The world’s only NBA store is right on Park Avenue and 52nd Street. The store is stocked with, what else, jerseys, shorts, caps, videos, baby wear and souvenirs. It carries a Dynasty line of jerseys and caps, with team logos in Chinese characters. Very cool.

Celebrity Sightings: At Badgley Mischka: Actresses Bai Ling and Jennifer Beals. At Versus by Donatella Versace: Madonna, Rupert Everett, Sylvester Stallone. At Bill Blass: New York socialites Nan Kempner, Blaine Trump, Caroline Roehm and Pat Buckley. At Tommy Hilfiger: Samuel L. Jackson.

Fashion Thirsty: Evian, one of the official corporate sponsors of Fashion Week, will distribute more than 40,000 of 11.2-ounce bottles of its bottled water at different venues for fashion shows.

Fashion Goodie Bags: Mark Montano’s bags included a bottle of Woolite, laundry bag and blue gingham bandanna. Very practical. Moet & Chandon gave away a black-and-white Henri Bendel bag filled with a big cookie in the shape of a champagne bottle and a $25 gift certificate to the very upscale Fifth Avenue store. Bottom line: The amount won’t buy much.

At the “Girls Rule!” show, guests were given extra-small-size teen undies inside a CD container, a black tube top with a computer-chip design on it, a beaded ponytail clip, earrings and the current craze: a wooden Chinese beaded bracelet. Bottom line: If you were 12--age, not size--you could wear all this stuff.
