Staff informed the Parks and Recreation Commission this week during a report on summer pool use that there is not enough room for all the residents who want to get involved in water sports, said Carson J. Lev, commission chairman. Crown Valley Community Park has the city’s lone public pool.

“We had record attendance this summer at the pool and had to turn people away,” Lev said. “We could use a second pool right now.”

But the space does not exist to install another public pool, Lev said. City “staff is a little frustrated because they see the need for another pool but we just don’t have the room,” he said.

Even if space could be found, building another pool would be expensive, said Pamela Lawrence, director of recreation and administrative services. “It would be more than $1 million. I certainly don’t see it as a possibility in the coming year.”
