Man Pleads Not Guilty to Murder

A 33-year-old man accused of stabbing a Studio City man to death in the victim’s home pleaded not guilty Friday to capital murder charges.

Marcus Sartin and his girlfriend, Tammie Lisa Coleman, are each charged with carjacking, robbery and murder with special circumstances, making them eligible for the death penalty.

Deputy Dist. Atty. Sera J. Boyadjian said Coleman accompanied Sartin to Mitchell Stanman’s home and was in the house while Sartin stabbed the other man to death.

A maid found Stanman, whose family owns the Valley Beverage liquor store on Ventura Boulevard, tied up in his Arch Drive apartment Sept. 2. His Rolex watch was gone, as was his 1999 silver Porsche Boxster.

Boyadjian said the defendant knew the victim and that robbery appears to be the motive behind the slaying.

Coleman is scheduled to be arraigned Sept. 28.
