Wild Winter and Cozy Rooms at Yellowstone

Share

For the first time, Yellowstone National Park Lodges will offer a package this winter that combines stays at park lodges with guided explorations of the park led by the Yellowstone Assn. Institute.

The private, nonprofit institute has long offered naturalist programs in the 2.2-million-acre park, which spans parts of Wyoming, Montana and Idaho. But its participants have stayed in log cabins, with heat and electricity but without running water, said spokesman Jeff Brown. The new five-night “Wonderland” package puts them in cushier lodgings.

For $605.25 per person, double occupancy, guests get three nights at Mammoth Hot Springs Hotel; two nights at the Old Faithful Snow Lodge; naturalist-led excursions via snowcoach, skis and snowshoes to learn about wildlife and geology; and daily breakfast and lunch. Dinners are not included, but guests get a discount card good for 25% off dinners and other items. The trips run Jan. 2 to March 3. Tel. (307) 344-7311.
