Sheriff’s Deputy Wounded in Legs
An early morning traffic stop in Rowland Heights erupted in gunfire Sunday, leaving a Los Angeles County sheriff’s deputy seriously wounded in both legs.
The incident occurred about 12:45 a.m. in the 1600 block of Greenport Avenue at Colima Road when deputies stopped a car with expired license plates that was being driven erratically, said Deputy Solis Cruz.
A passenger ran from the vehicle and into an apartment complex on Greenport Avenue. According to Cruz, “the suspect waited around a corner for the pursuing deputy, then fired at least four shots striking the deputy once in each leg.”
