CALIFORNIA : PEOPLE IN BUSINESS : Hollywood Publicist Clein Calls It Quits

* Longtime Hollywood publicist Harry Clein, who worked on such hit films as “The Blair Witch Project” and “Forrest Gump” and also on the formation of the DreamWorks SKG studio, is leaving the business. Jeremy Walker, his partner in Clein & Walker, will form his own agency with Vice President Heather Burgett.

* Paula Financial of Pasadena, a specialty underwriter and distributor of commercial insurance, said its chief operating officer, Andrew Slavitt, resigned to run HealthAllies.com, an Internet venture he founded. The company said it has promoted its chief actuary, James Muza, to senior vice president, chief actuary and chief investment officer.

* Santa Monica-based Internet start-up incubator ECompanies has named several executives to its management team: Michael Guttentag, who will be senior vice president of strategy; Andrew Greenebaum, chief financial officer; Marijo Bos, senior vice president of people; Karen Reed, senior vice president of creative development; and Len Vickers, senior vice president of marketing.
