B’Nai Emet Youths Plan Day of Fun

* The junior and senior youth groups at B’Nai Emet in Simi Valley will hold separate activities today. The junior group will hold a pool and pizza party from 1 to 4 p.m.; the senior group will hold a bowling event from 11:30 p.m. to 2 a.m. For information, call 583-0127.

The congregation will hold a Sukkot party and potluck at its preschool from noon to 2:30 p.m. Sunday.

On Friday, there will be two services to mark the Sukkot and Simchat Torah holidays: Tot Shabbat at 7:30 p.m. and regular Shabbat service at 8 p.m.

Sukkot Services in Thousand Oaks

* Temple Etz Chaim in Thousand Oaks will hold Sukkot services at 10 a.m. today with Rabbi Shimon Paskow and Hazzan Jeff Cohen. A kiddush will follow.

The Sunday morning Sukkot service also begins at 10. Services continue in the temple throughout the week.

On Oct. 2, 10 a.m. services will include Yizkor memorial prayers.

Registration for Prayer Gathering

* Preregistration for “Prayer--Raise It Up” is due today at Westlake Village’s Calvary Community Church. Cost is $20 for the Oct. 2 prayer gathering and includes lunch.

Church Offers Worship Services

* St. Paul’s United Methodist Church in Oxnard will celebrate Christian Education Sunday with a 10:15 a.m. worship service this week. The Rev. Alan P. Gorsline’s sermon will be “Where’s Mine?”

* St. Maximilian Kolbe Catholic Church in Westlake Village will begin a series of mini-retreats Oct. 2 in the church sanctuary from 9 a.m. to noon.

Episcopal Bishop to Visit Simi

* The Right Rev. Frederick H. Borsch, bishop of the Episcopal Diocese of Los Angeles, will visit St. Francis of Assisi Episcopal Church in Simi Valley on Oct. 3.

Panel Discussion on Faith Slated

* First United Methodist Church in Ventura will hold a panel discussion on “What My Faith Means to Me” on Oct. 18.

The 7 p.m. program will have local presenters from the Bahai faith, Roman Catholicism, Seventh-day Adventism and United Church of Christ.

A five-minute talk by each speaker will be followed by 1 1/2 hours of questions and answers with the audience.
