The Police Department has adopted a new fingerprint system called Live Scan, which can return reports within hours, significantly reducing waiting time for people who need to be fingerprinted for their jobs.
The computerized system allows an individual’s fingerprints to be transferred electronically to the state’s Justice Department for filing. Compared with the traditional hard-card system, in which hands are inked for an impression, Live Scan is much quicker.
There is a $10 fee per applicant. For appointments, call (714) 738-5374. Information: (714) 738-3359.
