Push Slated to Wrap Up Mall Expansion

Buenaventura Mall representatives are preparing for the big push that will finish the bulk of the mall’s renovation by Nov. 15.

That’s when the shopping center will officially become the Pacific View Ventura Mall and the two-year effort to redesign the mall will, for the most part, come to a close.

Crews are working to finish construction in time for the holiday shopping season when the mall will have grown by as many as 60 stores and 450,000 square feet.

“Construction-wise, we’re doing pretty well,” said Cayse Osterlund, general manager.

In the first weeks of November, new stores will haul in merchandise while crews install furniture in the center’s common areas and food court, Osterlund said. Most of the work should be finished by mid-November, but crews will continue with smaller projects through February.

New Sears and Robinsons-May stores will join the ranks of the mall’s anchor tenants, which include JCPenney and Macy’s.

Other new stores will include Victoria’s Secret, the Limited Too, Bath & Body Works and Foot Locker, Osterlund said.

All told, the mall will have increased to 140 or 150 stores and to about 1,250,000 square feet, Osterlund said.
