Camarillo Estate

Re “Camarillo City Manager Little Leaves Big Legacy,” Sept. 20.

Yes, Bill Little accomplished financial wonders for the city of Camarillo. This shows that he cares a lot about this place. It also makes it hard to understand why he allowed the dismemberment of the city’s birthplace: the Camarillo House and its farm buildings.

Why didn’t he have the foresight to preserve the Camarillo estate in its original beautiful layout as an arboretum showcase for all to enjoy and experience this part of Camarillo’s heritage?

He allowed the acreage surrounding Camarillo House to be plundered for financial gain (now not necessary for the thriving city), a demonstration of the importance of Save Open Space and Agricultural Resources (SOAR) measures.

Your story includes a photograph of Bill Little proudly standing in front of the Camarillo House’s big barn, recently ripped off its foundation to be relocated to make room for some hideous, intrusive, land-grabbing, not-needed industrial building. Mr. Little should be hanging his head in shame.
