The City Council will vote on whether to purchase a high-tech emergency notification system at its meeting Tuesday.

The city’s Public Safety Committee recommended the city purchase a Teleminder--a device that could instantly call residents to inform them of disasters.

“It’s very cutting edge. We’re excited by this,” said Mark Kunar, the city’s community relations deputy.

The Teleminder would cost the city about $33,000, which would include installation and training, Kunar said.
