The City Council on Tuesday night approved the purchase of the city’s first two police bicycles.
The mountain bikes are each equipped with a survival kit, an air horn and emergency lights, and they will be used at school functions, during traffic congestion problems and special events and in areas of the city plagued by residential or vehicle burglaries.
The cost for the two bicycles, two uniforms and staff is $9,120.
