Times Business Section Wins Award
The Los Angeles Times Business section has been named one of the nation’s best for the third year in a row.
The section was cited for its overall editorial excellence in the 1999 Best in Business contest conducted by the Society of American Business Editors and Writers, a national organization of business journalists.
The section had “the most complete daily coverage of markets, companies and the economy, reflecting consistent and exceptional news judgment,” the contest judges said. They called the section’s writing and graphics “exemplary.”
Other winners in the giant-newspaper category (those with daily circulations of more than 350,000) were the business sections of the Boston Globe and the Dallas Morning News.
Winners among papers in California included the San Jose Mercury News in the large-newspaper category (daily circulation between 225,001 and 350,000) and the Los Angeles Business Journal in the weekly category.
