Stargazers to Mark Astronomy Day

The Ventura County Astronomical Society will hold its annual Astronomy Day on Saturday in Simi Valley, followed by a star party at Moorpark College that evening.

Astronomy Day runs from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. and features displays, presentations and projects for children. The day coincides with National Astronomy Day.

The star party begins at 7 p.m. and consists of a lecture by club members about the spring sky. Telescopes will be set up for viewing Jupiter and Saturn.

The Ventura County Astronomical Society, which has 210 members, is a member of the Astronomical League and meets monthly at Moorpark College. It also publishes Celestial Horizons, a monthly newsletter.

Astronomy Day will be held in Sycamore Plaza in Simi Valley and the star party at the college’s Charles Temple Observatory, 7075 Campus Road, Moorpark. For more information on Astronomy Day or the Ventura County Astronomical Society, call the society Starline at 529-7813.
