A local man wanted for allegedly killing a 76-year-old man with his truck last November has been extradited from Las Vegas on a murder charge, Pomona police said.

Federico Lopez, 26, waived extradition proceedings and agreed to voluntarily return with Pomona detectives to Southern California, Pomona Police Sgt. Paul Capraro said.

Lopez is alleged to have killed William Bozeman, of Pomona, on Nov. 27, Capraro said. According to Pomona police, witnesses saw Lopez deliberately steer his truck into Bozeman. At the time, Bozeman was trying to wave down Lopez’s truck after it nearly hit a vehicle belonging to one of Bozeman’s relatives.

Bozeman’s son-in-law followed Lopez’s pickup truck through Pomona and took down the license plate number before losing the vehicle, police said. Later Lopez’s 1987 Nissan pickup was found abandoned in another part of Pomona. Last Wednesday, Lopez was arrested after a traffic stop in Las Vegas, police said. Lopez did not have any identification with him, but Las Vegas police checked his fingerprints and linked him to the murder warrant from Pomona.
