Chastened but undeterred, Noel and Liam Gallagher bring a reconstituted Oasis back to the U.S. as they seek to rebuild burned bridges and reconvene their scattered Brit-pop following. If that’s not enough of a challenge, there’s also their opening act, Travis, recent Brit Award winners for best British band and album.

Tapscott tribute--A best bet in Thursday’s Calendar Weekend gave the wrong time for Sunday’s tribute to the late jazz pianist-composer Horace Tapscott at the Jazz Bakery in Culver City. The event is at 2 p.m.

7:30 pm: Rhythm & Blues

He’s the beret-wearing king of Gris-Gris, a New Orleans product whose gravelly voice can cast a voodoo spell. She’s the queen of raunchy rock, a blues singer who for some 45 years has sung with risque abandon and plenty of attitude. Dr. John (aka Mac Rebennack) and Etta James will put their over-sized personalities and musical magic to work in this double-bill that sure to have you singing “Such A Night.”

When pianist, composer and bandleader Horace Tapscott died last year, he left a musical legacy that extended throughout his Los Angeles home and around the world. In “Tribute to Horace Tapscott,” a celebration of his April 6 birthday, Tapscott’s two greatest musical organizations--the Pan Afrikan People’s Arkestra, under the direction of saxophonist Michael Session, and the Great Voices of UGMAA (Union Of God’s Musicians and Artists Ascension), under the direction of vocalist Dwight Trible--will combine forces in this second annual remembrance.

Young, highly promising soloists take the spotlight at Pepperdine University and the Colburn School for Performing Arts. Cellist Alisa Weilerstein, the scion of a family of musicians, plays a debut recital at the 2 p.m. Sunday series in Malibu. Two hours later, violinist Michelle Kim, a distinguished alumna of Colburn, appears on the school’s Gold series, playing sonatas by Beethoven, Faure, Paganini and the recent Oscar winner, John Corigliano.

Fred Ramirez, a vibraphonist-pianist who has worked with Poncho Sanchez, Tito Puente and others, leads his colorful Latin jazz sextet among the artwork at the Museum of Latin American Art in this Chamber Music in Historic Sites concert sponsored by the Da Camera Society of Mount St. Mary’s College. Before the concert, visitors can view the museum’s exhibition “Fernando de Szyszlo in His Labyrinth” and hear a presentation on the collection from museum director Gregorio Luke.
