Fatboy Slim, “On the Floor at the Boutique,” Astralwerks. In this London club DJ set, Slim cannibalizes, manipulates and re-contextualizes various clips, keeping the mind engaged along with the feet--something many DJ albums don’t manage.

Aimee Mann, “Bachelor No. 2,” SuperEgo. Thirteen gorgeous and brilliantly understated songs that examine relationships with the disbelief, doubt and disillusionment of wary people who seem quite sure of what they don’t want, but less certain of what they should desire. In stores May 2, available online at https://www.aimeemann.com.

No Doubt, “Return of Saturn,” Trauma/Interscope. The Orange County quartet pauses to consider questions of identity, paths chosen and potential regrets. But they keeps things light, even when Gwen Stefani mulls the inevitability of death.

Various artists, “Ghost Dog: The Way of the Samurai--The Album,” Razor Sharp/Epic. This soundtrack was produced by the Wu-Tang Clan’s RZA, and nearly every track features a member of that mammoth rhyme family. The surprise is that the moody interludes are among the album’s best selections.
