116 ROTC Drill Teams Set for Competition

REDONDO BEACH — Redondo Union High School on Saturday will host a Reserve Officers’ Training Corps National Drill Team Competition, featuring 24 schools from California and Nevada.
Competition among the 116 drill teams will anchor day-long festivities open to the public. During opening ceremonies, the U.S. Marine Corps will stage a flyover of F-18 Hornet fighter planes.
Military equipment, including two T-72 tanks captured during Operation Desert Storm, will be on display throughout the day.
Aerospace firms TRW and Raytheon Systems Co. also are hosts of the event, which will run from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. in the TRW parking lot at Marine Avenue and Aviation Boulevard.
Public parking is available at Marine and Mettler Drive.
