Reward Offered in School Bomb Threats

Conejo Valley Unified District officials are offering a $5,000 reward leading to the arrest and conviction of whoever mailed bomb threats to several schools last month.
Anonymous letters threatening that a bomb would go off at one of five campuses were delivered on March 29 to Los Cerritos Middle School and Ladera, Lang Ranch, Meadows and Weathersfield elementary schools. A sixth letter was sent to Park Oaks Elementary School, which was not identified as a potential target.
Attendance fell by as much as 75% at some campuses the next day as parents kept students home. The letters said a bomb would go off that day.
Ventura County sheriff’s deputies searched the campuses with bomb-sniffing dogs but found no explosive devices. The school district also hired private security guards to patrol overnight.
Anyone with information can call (800) 78-CRIME. Callers do not have to give their names.
