Kings Are Officially Unhappy About Obstruction Calls

Share

King Coach Andy Murray and General Manager Dave Taylor huddled with league officials for more than 20 minutes after Saturday’s 8-5 loss to the Red Wings.

At issue was Kerry Fraser and Dennis LaRue’s interpretation of the obstruction rule.

The rest of the Kings weren’t quite as calm.

“We’re playing the Red Wings and the officials,” winger Ziggy Palffy said.

“Maybe our coach should have talked to the league the way Scotty did a couple of weeks ago,” winger Luc Robitaille said.

Detroit Coach Scotty Bowman was fined $7,500 for remarks he made about officiating toward the end of the regular season.

The Red Wings scored three goals on power plays, the first coming on an obstruction call against the Kings’ Jere Karalahti.
