SAN JUAN CAPISTRANO
Capistrano Unified School District teachers have approved the proposed contract for next year’s salaries, a preliminary count by the teachers union shows.
Of the 1,564 votes tallied, 1,182--more than 75% of the total--expressed approval.
“I’m not surprised,” union President Frank Weirath said. “I thought it would pass.”
The contract includes a 2.5% salary increase retroactive to July 1, 1999, for all teachers.
In addition, teachers will receive a 3% increase beginning July 1, 2000.
