Blue Cross Awarded 3-Year Accreditation

WellPoint Health Networks in Thousand Oaks says its principal California subsidiary, Blue Cross of California, was awarded a commendable three-year accreditation from the National Committee for Quality Assurance for its commercial HMO and Medicare HMO products.

Commendable accreditation is granted to health plans with programs for service and clinical quality that meet or exceed the committee’s standards. The committee is an independent, nonprofit organization designed to measure the quality of America’s health care.

WellPoint Health Networks has 7.3 million medical and nearly 32 million specialty members through Blue Cross of California and UNICARE in other parts of the country.
