Gasoline Prices

Share

* I am a struggling Moorpark College student working two jobs to help support my family and put myself through school. As if I don’t have enough problems already, gas prices are going up to extreme amounts, and there is no choice but to succumb. I will soon have to wake up an hour and a half earlier to catch three buses to get to my school just because we cannot get more oil from overseas.

As I recall, we Americans have something called the Alaskan pipeline that pumps oil to be used in the United States. We are supposed to be a self-sufficient country, but then why are we so dependent on other countries for resources?

We should have collected these resources in reserve a long time ago. That way Americans would not have to deal with these problems. That is why we elect officials to look out for our best interest now and in the future.

I am going to school for this very reason. I want to be paid to look out for my future and those of the citizens of the United States of America.
