SAN JUAN CAPISTRANO
A local riding park is one of four equestrian centers worldwide being considered for the Samsung Nations Cup finals in September 2001.
Officials from the Federation Equestre Internationale, the world governing body for the sport, toured the Oaks/Blenheim Exhibitions grounds this week to evaluate it for the event.
Jumping teams from about 30 nations, including the United States and Canada, compete at the Samsung Nations Cup every year.
The eight teams with the most points after a total of 28 events qualify for the finals.
If Oaks/Blenheim is chosen, the site, at 30753 La Pata Ave., will be the competition’s first North American host.
