Murray Delivers Message to Team

Share

This message on the board greeted the Kings upon their arrival to their training center Tuesday:

“In the three games so far, we have yet to lose . . . we have beaten ourselves.”

The theme was simply that penalties and the inability to score on the power play have the Kings down, 3-0, and facing elimination in tonight’s Game 4 at Staples Center. It’s all Coach Andy Murray had.

“Do you credit your opponent, or do you say you need to be better?” Murray said. “If you’re crediting your opponent, then you’re saying that there’s no room for improvement.”

The Kings met for 8 1/2 minutes on Tuesday and then were dismissed, save for those who had played little or not at all Monday night. The idea, said Murray, was to rest because there were more games to be played beyond tonight’s.
