The City Council recently voted to rescind an amendment to the city code that restricted the parking of certain commercial trucks on residential streets. In the amended version, passed in February, trucks with a gross weight of 10,000 pounds or more were not allowed to park on residential streets for more than two hours.
There was discussion among council members and the public about the precise definition of commercial vehicles and whether the amended version of the code would apply to all commercial vehicles, such as trucks or cars used by independent contractors. The original city code will be sent back to the Planning Commission. It is expected to come back to the City Council for approval midsummer.
