Three Santa Paula residents were arrested on suspicion of drugs this week after deputies searched a home in the 700 block of West Santa Paula Street, authorities said.

During the search, Ventura County sheriff’s deputies found about an ounce of methamphetamine, a quarter-pound of marijuana, hallucinogenic mushrooms and nearly $9,000 in cash, authorities said.

Officials estimated the seized drugs had a street value of $3,000.

Detectives said they also discovered equipment believed to be used in growing marijuana indoors and evidence that marijuana plants had been harvested there.

Arrested were Scott Ellington, 34, on suspicion of possessing controlled substances for sale, and a roommate, Tracy Placial, 33, on suspicion of being under the influence of a controlled substance. Jeff Groden, 23, was arrested on suspicion of possession of methamphetamine.

Detectives searched the residence Wednesday after receiving a tip.

All three suspects were booked into Ventura County Jail. Ellington and Groden posted bail of $50,000 and $10,000, respectively, and Placial was released on her own recognizance Thursday, a jail spokesman said.
