The city has decided to join the El Toro Reuse Planning Authority, a coalition of cities and school districts that opposes a proposed commercial airport at the closed El Toro Marine Corps Air Station.

The City Council voted 3 to 1, with Councilman Scott Diehl dissenting, at last week’s meeting.

As an associate member, the city will receive information about the organization’s activities and the issues involved. It can attend and participate in the board of directors’ meetings as a nonvoting member. The cost for associate membership is $500.
