Ojai Firm Awarded Patent for Health-Monitor Shirt

Share

LifeShirt.com in Ojai, an online company that uses a shirt with embedded sensors to continuously monitor a patient’s vital signs, has been issued a patent for its Physiologic Signs Feedback System.

LifeShirt.com monitors and records more than 40 cardiac and respiratory signs while an individual works, plays, sleeps or travels. The encrypted data is then uploaded via the Internet for analysis and displayed on a secure Web site for physician review.

“The issuance of this patent is a significant milestone for LifeShirt.com,” said Chief Executive Paul Kennedy.

He said the underlying technology is used in more than 1,000 hospitals worldwide, including the Mayo Clinic, Johns Hopkins University Hospital and Childrens Hospital of Los Angeles.

The LifeShirt is expected to be available commercially in the fall.
