Suburban Chicago Janitors OK Contract
Associated Press
CHICAGO — Striking suburban janitors unanimously approved a contract agreement with building contractors Friday night that ended a 10-day walkout, union officials said.
The deal will give janitors a $1.35 per hour raise over three years and family health insurance in the third year.
“When you compare that to what we had before we struck, we see it as a great victory,” said Ken Munz, a spokesman for Local 1 of the Service Employees International Union. The janitors will return to work Monday.
