* Sand Castles Grief Support Program for Children and Families, which serves the San Fernando Valley and other areas of the Los Angeles area, needs volunteers to provide support in a group setting to children 3 to 19 who have lost a parent, sibling or other close family member. * Volunteer Vital English in Pomona, which offers free English lessons to non-English-speaking adults, needs good used books for a book sale to be held Oct. 20-21. Children’s books are especially needed. No magazines, texts or reference books are needed. Volunteers are needed to sort books and set up the sale Oct. 19 and to help on sale days.
