The City Council will consider participating in an Orange County Sheriff’s Department program to catch suspended and unlicensed drivers.

The Traffic Violator Apprehension Program, which is being proposed to all cities that contract with the Sheriff’s Department, would set up checkpoints to catch violators.

The program would also establish fees to retrieve impounded cars.

Drivers with suspended licenses would have to pay an additional $152 to get their cars back, while drivers of cars impounded for other violations would be subject to a $50 fee.
