* McDonald’s Corp. said it will include Hello Kitty toys in its children’s Happy Meals in North America after successful promotions featuring the cartoon cats in parts of Asia. The burger chain plans to offer a choice of the cat toys, made by Japan’s Sanrio Co., or Hasbro Inc.’s Transformers Beast Machines for three weeks beginning Friday.
* Standard Chartered, a Britain-based bank with almost 70% of its assets in Asia, said it will cut 6,000 jobs, about 20% of its work force. The 147-year-old bank, which has 570 offices in 50 countries, said the cuts will be made in Africa, Asia and Britain.
