City Council members said Tuesday night they want some of the five large, freeway-facing Savi Ranch shopping center signs gone.
The council voted 4 to 0 to let staff negotiate with center developer Majestic Realty and store owners to take down the signs, including a 90-foot display at the Weir Canyon/Yorba Linda Boulevard offramp from the Riverside Freeway. The council did not say how many they wanted removed.
Mayor Ken Ryan, who expressed his frustration at the “ugly signs,” said poor communication among the city’s agencies and staff is to blame.
The smallest signs are 16 feet by 14 feet. All council members agreed that one 90-foot sign or a couple of small signs should help identify the Savi Ranch Shopping Center.
