Sometimes you just don’t want to go anywhere.

And in our modern world, you don’t have to--the world will come to you. Restaurants offering food delivery are more readily available today than they were a few years ago.

* For a long time, home food deliveries were pretty much limited to pizza and Chinese food. Ubiquitous Domino’s and Pizza Huts still deliver corporate products that are convenient if not thrilling. Domino’s offers hand-tossed, thin crust, deep dish and other varieties; Pizza Hut offers hand-tossed, thin crust, pan and others.

* But now, more independent Valley places are offering delivery on their own, including Rosie’s BBQ in West Hills, (818) 346-4091, and Mahatma Cuisine of India in Chatsworth, (818) 407-8898.

* Two restaurant delivery services operate in the Valley. Cuisine to You ([818] 766-7888) offers delivery from more than 30 restaurants to homes in North Hollywood, Studio City, Burbank and Sherman Oaks. Restaurants include Cha Cha Cha, Smoke House, Greek Bistro and Ribs USA. $5 delivery charge with a minimum $15 order. Allow about an hour for delivery.

Waiters on the Run ([818] 366-0399) offers delivery from nearly 50 restaurants to homes west of the San Diego Freeway. Choices include Alexis Greek Restaurant, Bear Pit, Broiler and Chili’s. $4.95 delivery charge with a $15 minimum. An additional service charge of $3.50 for ordering items from a second restaurant. Allow about an hour for delivery.

* If nothing from the Valley is suitable for your rarefied palate, there’s always the Internet--https://-www.delightfuldeliverys.com offers four Maine lobsters from the Fulton Fish Market in New York City, packed in dry ice and shipped to your door UPS Next Day for about $110.
