Car Hits Sign, Tree, Pole, Killing Driver

A driver was killed early Sunday in an accident on State College Boulevard in Anaheim, authorities said.
Witnesses told police that the male driver’s 1982 Buick Regal was traveling north just after 1 a.m. when it veered off the road after making contact with a beige pickup traveling in the same direction.
The victim’s car hit a metal sign and a palm tree before crashing into a utility pole. The driver was pronounced dead at the scene.
Anaheim police did not release the victim’s name or age pending notification of next of kin.
Police are investigating the cause of the accident and are searching for the driver of the pickup, who left the scene.
