SAN CLEMENTE
The Capistrano Unified School District has named Wagon Wheel Elementary School Assistant Principal Charlotte Hibsch the new principal of Truman Benedict Elementary School, replacing veteran Principal John Hopkins.
Hibsch has worked for the district since 1997, serving as assistant principal at Viejo Elementary School in Mission Viejo before going to Wagon Wheel in Coto de Caza.
Hibsch, who began her career as a math and science teacher, had served as a professor at Chapman University since 1989.
In 40 years with the district, Hopkins served as principal of six elementary schools, including two stints with Truman Benedict for a total of nine years.
Hibsch will assume her duties Thursday.
